Overview
Ya Nui is a tiny pocket beach just below Phromthep Cape at Phuket’s southernmost tip. It’s barely 100 metres of sand, but its reputation among snorkelers is enormous — the water is some of the clearest on the island and the reef just offshore is healthy and full of life.
Parking is tight (there’s a small area just off the road) and the beach gets busy with snorkelers from mid-morning. The combination of location, water clarity, and marine life makes it worth the effort.
Snorkeling
Ya Nui’s water is transparent — you can see the coral from the beach. The reef runs along the rocky edges of the cove and extends into slightly deeper water. Fish are plentiful. Rental snorkeling gear is available from the small shop near the beach entrance (approximately 150 THB for mask and fins).
Getting There
Ya Nui is just below Phromthep Cape on the main road. From Nai Harn Beach, it’s 10 minutes by scooter or car, heading south past the Windmill Hill and following signs to Phromthep Cape. There’s no public transport.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Ya Nui Beach good for snorkeling?
Yes — it’s widely considered the best free snorkeling accessible from a Phuket beach. The coral and fish life are exceptional.
Is Ya Nui Beach good for swimming?
Yes, though the beach is small and the water can get choppy near the open sea edge. Stay within the calmer central section.
How crowded does Ya Nui get?
It can feel busy given its small size, especially on weekends. Arrive before 9am or after 3pm for the most space.
Is there parking at Ya Nui Beach?
A small roadside parking area fits about 10–15 cars. Arrive early in peak season to be sure of a spot.
