Overview
Surin Beach has a justified reputation as Phuket’s most elegant stretch of sand. The beach is relatively short (about 700m) but immaculate — fine white sand, crystal-clear water, and a backdrop of lush hillside that remains mostly free of development. It attracts a noticeably upscale crowd and the beach clubs here are among the best on the island.
The small village behind the beach has evolved into a destination in its own right, with quality restaurants, a morning market, and a handful of boutique shops.
Swimming
Surin’s water is exceptionally clear and generally calm in the high season — among the best on the west coast for swimming and just floating. The beach shelves quite steeply compared to others, so the water gets deep quickly near the shoreline.
Beach Clubs
Surin is synonymous with beach club culture. The Shore at Katathani and Catch Beach Club are the most popular, offering sun loungers, cocktails, and DJs. Most require a minimum spend for a sun bed reservation during peak months.
Getting There
Surin is about 25 minutes north of Patong on the main coastal road. Grab taxis are reliable here. Songthaews run between Surin and Phuket Town but not frequently — the schedule is irregular.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Surin Beach a party beach?

How does Surin compare to Patong?
Surin is smaller, quieter, and significantly more upscale. There’s no nightlife strip. It suits travellers who want a beautiful beach with quality dining and lounging, not late-night partying.

Are there restaurants near Surin Beach?
Yes — the village behind the beach has a good mix of Thai restaurants, seafood spots, and international options. The beach clubs also serve food.
