Overview
Layan is the northern, quieter extension of Bang Tao Beach, separated from the main beach by the Layan Lagoon — a brackish wetland that attracts herons, kingfishers, and other birds. The beach here is wilder and less developed than southern Bang Tao, with just the Anantara Layan Phuket Resort providing any real infrastructure.
The combination of empty beach, tranquil lagoon, and bird life makes Layan one of Phuket’s most peaceful settings — nature-focused without sacrificing beauty.
Getting There
Layan is accessed off Route 4030, north of the Laguna Phuket turnoff. A scooter or car is necessary — no public transport serves this area.
